Jena Burgin-Peters has worked extensively in the Entertainment Industry more than 2 decades as a Dancer, Singer, Choreographer, Director, Producer, & Dance Educator. She made her film debut as a featured backup dancer in the hit movie “Dirty Dancing” and then went on to work professionally as a dancer and singer for Entertainment Mogul Merv Griffin. Through Mr. Griffin she performed along side legends such as Chita Rivera, Tommy Tune, Wayne Cilento, Suzanne Somers, Shirley Maclaine, Tim Conway, Tony Bennett, Carol Channing just to name a few. Jena had the privilege of working under renown choreographers Barry Lather (In living Color, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson,Sting, Usher, Rhianna, Prince), Helene Phillips (Madonna, A Chorus Line the Movie, Solid Gold), Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing, Shag, High School Musical). After being a Lead in Atlantic City, Paradise Island Bahamas, and Featured in Las Vegas and on Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign of the Seas, Jena Went to work as a Choreographer, Director, and Producer for a division of Paramount Pictures. Her prestigious clients included Viacom, Royal Caribbean, Cunard, Spirit Cruises, and Renaissance Cruises.

Ms. Burgin-Peters continues to work in the Industry as a Choreographer for Commercials, film, and video for clients such as Harris Teeter, Shumacher homes, North Carolina Educational Lottery. In 2012 Jena choreographed and cast a music video that went viral on Youtube and won an EMMY award for best educational video. Most recently, Ms. Peters choreographed a TV commercial beside Director Shawn Kim (Katy Perry, Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. Common). Jena has served as a guest artist at Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, NC and continues to be sought after by studios all over the country for her innovative style and empowering teaching methods. Ms. Burgin-Peters philosophy is to Empower, Excite, Engage, and Enlighten.

DONATION: $25/Student

This workshop will run as a dance audition. Students will learn choreography as a group in a mock audition setting as if they are auditioning for a show. In this workshop they will experience first hand what its like to quickly learn choreography, add their personality to it and learn what it takes to stand out to a choreographer.  This is not a workshop for beginning dancers.

How to Prepare For This Workshop

Wear appropriate dance clothing as you would for a musical theatre audition.
