International Thespian Society at NWSA
International Thespian Society is an honors society that recognizes the achievements of high school theatre students. Each school that participates in the International Thespian Society has a Thespian troupe that is led by a troupe director—usually the school’s theatre teacher. Northwest School of the Arts is Thespian troupe #5634, and our troupe director is Corey Mitchell.
In addition to providing extra performance opportunities, Thespians also is a terrific way to fundraise for worthy causes. At Northwest, our Thespian troupe fundraises for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
According to its website, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry-based HIV/AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. As an organization, they fund the social service programs of The Actors Fund and award grants to AIDS and family service organizations across the country.
We need your help! If you’ve been to any theatrical production at Northwest, you probably have seen our Thespians holding red buckets to collect money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS after our shows. We now have added a digital aspect to our fundraising efforts. As a Troupe, our goal is to raise as much money as possible for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. With the help of our new online donation site, you can easily help us make our dream into a reality. Anything you can give is gratefully appreciated. No donation is too small or too large. With your help, we can make a difference!
